For a hardy few the day started cold and blustery at 5 am at mass in the Cave of th the Nativity joined by a group of 20 from Eastern Europe. It has certainly rained overnight and the sky is very grey. RL

More will be coming for today than is here as I write. I gather a few did go to the 5.05am service, but not many.

Following my previous comments, it was not a surprise to find many people at the Church of the Nativity. Our guide is very skilled at finding us space to gather and listen and making sure we have time to see and think. Much of the church was under scaffolding but we could see the site of Jesus birth. I am sure we will say a lot about understandings and interpretation of sites when we get back.

The Shepherd's Field provided another moving moment as we spontaneously joined an American group singing in the chapel there.
