The choir on tour in Melbourn - July 2016

Music is an important part of the worship at St John's. The church has a traditional robed SATB choir, which leads the music at all the main services. This includes the 10am and 6pm Sunday services, as well as mid-week festivals (such as Ash Wednesday, Ascension Day and Maundy Thursday), and weddings on request. The choir has a strong treble line made up of girls and boys aged 7–18 years who follow the RSCM Voice for Life training scheme. There are also adult sopranos, altos, tenors and basses.

We sing a full choral evensong once a term to which we invite guests. Outside of St John's, our choir takes a full part in music festivals held in Ely Cathedral and King's College Chapel.

The choir holds practices on Thursdays at the following times:

6.30–7.30 pm Trebles

7.00–8.00 pm Adults

We do not audition for membership, but members are required to attend weekly choir practice. If you, or your child, is interested in joining the choir, please contact the parish office by telephone on 01223 241316.

Please see here for information about the church organ.

Christmas Carols On The River

On Sunday 5th December our fabulous choir took part in Let's Go Punting and The Traditional Punting Company's Annual Charity Christmas Carol event; Christmas Carols on the River. The event was this year in aid of Blue Smile.

The choir sang everyone's favourite Christmas Carols whilst gliding along the River Cam on a Chauffeured Punt on a very cold afternoon. Well done everyone!

Well done everyone and thank you for your wonderful singing.

Thank you also to everyone who came and donated, all funds raised will be going towards the church and its running costs.

We were delighted to meet +Bishop Dagmar Winter as she visited and led a confirmation service for members of our congregation, including one of our choir members.
