Kneeler 67:

In memory of June Brignell 1927-2011

“Be still and know that I am God”

June’s faith centred especially on the importance of prayer. She was a member of the Healing Prayer Group from when it started in the early 1990’s until nearing the end of her life and many of the meetings were held at her house.

She loved visits to Taize with Brian Jones when he was Vicar at St John’s. The centrepiece of her kneeler is the San Damiano Cross from Assisi. A copy of the original was the focus for worship at Taize where many pilgrims gathered from all over the world. She loved music and collected CDs of the chants she remembered from her visits there.

She was a devoted supporter of St John’s Church helping with dusting duties and cleaning the brasses. She was also on the flower rota, decorating the Church for Sunday Services. She loved her garden, and especially roses. She performed many other duties including assisting with the Chalice at Sunday Services.

She was friendly to all and gave of her time, sympathy and understanding to anyone who needed her. She will never be forgotten.
